Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about commercial real estate photography, drone services, and working with KC Media Team.

Still Have Questions? Let's Talk

General Questions

The basics about who we are, what we do, and why Kansas City commercial properties choose us.

What makes KC Media Team different from other commercial photographers?

We're marketers first, photographers second. While others focus on making spaces look good, we focus on creating images that drive leasing activity. Our team understands commercial real estate marketing, tenant psychology, and what actually moves properties in the Kansas City market. Every shot is designed with ROI in mind.

Do you only work with commercial properties?

Yes, we specialize exclusively in commercial real estate including office buildings, retail spaces, industrial properties, medical facilities, mixed-use developments, and hospitality venues. This focus allows us to understand the unique marketing needs of commercial properties and deliver better results than generalist photographers.

What areas of Kansas City do you serve?

We serve the entire Kansas City metro area including downtown KC, Country Club Plaza, Crossroads, River Market, Overland Park, Lenexa, and all surrounding commercial districts in both Kansas and Missouri. No travel fees apply within the standard metro area. View all service areas.

How quickly can you photograph my property?

We typically schedule shoots within 3-5 business days, with same-day or next-day service available for urgent needs. We understand that timing is critical in commercial real estate, so we maintain flexible scheduling to accommodate your deadlines.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, we carry comprehensive commercial liability insurance with $2 million in coverage. We're also FAA Part 107 certified for commercial drone operations and maintain all necessary licenses to operate in both Kansas and Missouri.

Pricing & Package Questions

Transparent pricing information to help you budget and plan your commercial photography investment.

How much does commercial property photography cost?

Our packages start at $450 for properties up to 15,000 SF and range up to $1,200 for premium packages with unlimited square footage. Pricing varies based on property size, services needed, and turnaround time. We also offer bundle discounts of 15% when combining services. View detailed pricing.

Are there any hidden fees or additional costs?

No hidden fees. Our pricing includes all standard editing, file delivery, and usage rights. The only additional costs would be optional add-on services like rush delivery ($200), additional twilight shots ($150 each), or travel fees for properties outside the standard metro area. Everything is clearly communicated upfront.

Do you offer volume discounts?

Yes! We offer 10% off for 10+ properties and custom retainer agreements for property management companies and brokerages with ongoing needs. Bundle multiple services (photography + drone + video) to save an additional 15% on any order.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept credit cards, ACH transfers, and checks. For established commercial real estate companies, we offer net-30 payment terms. Payment is due upon delivery of final images unless other arrangements have been made.

Is the investment in professional photography worth it?

Absolutely. Properties with professional photography lease 32% faster and command 47% higher per-square-foot rates on average. The investment typically pays for itself within the first month through faster leasing activity and premium positioning. Think of it as marketing that directly impacts your bottom line.

Our Process Questions

Understanding what to expect when working with KC Media Team from booking to final delivery.

"Great photography starts with great planning. We show up knowing exactly what shots will drive results for your property."

— KC Media Team

What happens during a commercial property photo shoot?

We start with a walk-through to understand your property's best features and marketing goals. Then we systematically capture interior and exterior shots based on our custom shot list. This includes wide-angle room shots, detail photos, exterior angles, and any special features. Drone photography (if included) happens when lighting is optimal. The entire process typically takes 1-3 hours depending on property size.

Do I need to prepare the property before the shoot?

Basic preparation helps achieve the best results. We recommend: clearing clutter from desks and common areas, ensuring all lights work, opening blinds for natural light, removing or organizing personal items, and having parking areas reasonably clear. We'll provide a detailed prep checklist when you book. Don't worry about perfection—our editing can handle minor issues.

How long does delivery take?

Standard delivery is 48-72 hours after the shoot. We'll provide a preview gallery within 24 hours so you can see initial results. Rush delivery (24 hours) is available for an additional $200. All images are delivered via online gallery with download links for both high-resolution and web-optimized versions.

What if I need to reschedule?

We understand schedules change in commercial real estate. You can reschedule without penalty up to 24 hours before your shoot. For same-day rescheduling, we try to accommodate when possible but may apply a rescheduling fee if we've already traveled to the location.

Can I request specific shots or angles?

Absolutely! We encourage you to share any specific requirements or must-have shots. We'll incorporate your requests into our shot list while also capturing all the standard angles we know work for marketing commercial properties. Your input helps us deliver exactly what you need.

Drone Photography Questions

Everything about aerial photography, regulations, and why it's essential for commercial properties.

Are you legally allowed to fly drones for commercial photography?

Yes, we're FAA Part 107 certified for commercial drone operations. This federal certification allows us to legally fly drones for commercial purposes. We also maintain LAANC authorization for controlled airspace and carry $2 million in liability insurance specifically covering drone operations.

Why is drone photography important for commercial properties?

Aerial photography provides crucial context that ground-level shots can't capture: proximity to highways and transportation, parking availability, neighborhood context, property boundaries, and accessibility. For industrial properties, it shows truck access and rail connections. For office buildings, it demonstrates convenience and prestige. These perspectives directly influence leasing decisions.

Can you fly drones anywhere in Kansas City?

Most areas yes, but some locations have restrictions. Kansas City International Airport creates controlled airspace requiring special authorization. We cannot fly directly over stadiums during events or near hospital helipads. We're experts in KC airspace regulations and will advise if your property has any restrictions. In most cases, we can obtain necessary clearances.

What weather conditions affect drone photography?

We cannot fly in rain, snow, or fog, and wind speeds must be under 25 mph for safety and image quality. Ideal conditions are partly cloudy days with light wind. If weather prevents drone photography on your scheduled day, we'll capture ground-level shots and return for aerials when conditions improve at no additional charge.

How high can you fly for property photos?

FAA regulations allow flights up to 400 feet above ground level. This is more than sufficient for commercial real estate photography—most of our shots are captured between 100-300 feet for optimal perspective. We adjust altitude based on property size and surrounding context to capture the most marketable angles.

Technical & Delivery Questions

The details about image quality, formats, usage rights, and technical specifications.

What format and resolution are the photos delivered in?

You receive two versions of every image: high-resolution originals (5000+ pixels wide, perfect for print) and web-optimized versions (1920-2500 pixels wide, ideal for MLS and websites). All images are delivered as JPEGs with Adobe RGB color space. We can provide RAW files or other formats upon request.

Can I use the photos for all my marketing?

Yes! You receive full usage rights for all marketing purposes including MLS, LoopNet, websites, social media, print materials, and any other promotional use for the photographed property. The only restriction is you cannot resell the images or transfer usage rights to third parties without permission.

How much editing is included?

All images receive professional editing including color correction, exposure optimization, lens distortion correction, vertical line straightening, and minor object removal (exit signs, trash cans, etc.). We also perform HDR processing when needed to balance interior and exterior light. Major virtual staging or renovation visualization requires custom quoting.

How are the photos delivered?

Photos are delivered via a private online gallery with individual download links. You can download images individually or as a complete ZIP file. The gallery remains active for 90 days, and we maintain backups for one year. We can also deliver via Dropbox, Google Drive, or WeTransfer upon request.
